  minimus started a thread asking people to prove that jws don't have the truth.... but, instead of proving they don't, i'd like to see someone prove that the witnesses do have the truth.. this is your thread jw apologists....convince me why you have the truth.. to all you apostates and nay-sayers, please allow the apologists to have their say without harrassing them.

  the pen really can be mightier than the sword, and even fiction often carries much weight and powerful messages.. did you read a book or watch a movie that made you think?

  did an "entertaining" work plant a seed of doubt?.

  the first one i can remember making a definate comparison to the witnesses in my mind was ray bradbury's martian chronicles.

  i used to smoke cigarettes.

  i quit as i was learning the lies of the watchtower organization.. i used to smoke between 1 and 3 packs a day depending on whether i went drinking or not.. .

  i didn't really quit for the religion, but as i was learning it.. i swore to quit when cigarettes got to cost me more than a buck a pack.

  JW Defenders- Is WTS Right to Insist You Stay Away From these Websites?

  i read these threads and there are a few that bend over backwards to say why wts is correct on this issue or that issue.. they act like typical jw's that refuse to acknowledge points that may show that wts is not following the scriptures or that wts goes beyond the scriptures in a way that is not supported by others.. the point could be the blood issue or shunning or whether 1799 or 1914 was the start (or finish?

  ) of the last days or whether there is a faithful and discreet slave class or not.

  i don't want to harp on each point.

  spike, unless you are playing dumb - you know as well as every other witness/ex-witness on there the WT publicly prints words like "maybe", "perhaps", "exercise discernment", but talks, counsel and judicial committees are vastly different.

  For example, the WT advises unmarried couples spending long periods of time together alone is unadvisable, although it does not forbid it. How many people have been in trouble, strongly counseled or DF'ed for this though (just spending time, breaking no other rules)? Many many, I know of a lot myself.

  Did you participate in STREET WITNESSING in your area? What was it like?

  here in southern california, the witnesses still do streetwork.

  i did it since i was a kid.

  i used to spend two hours every saturday morning from 7 to 9 am walking down the street near my house with my brother or sister.

  just thought this article was interesting in view of what has been said in the last couple of years on the forum about the declining number of elders and servants and those reaching out.

  add to that the large percentage of young teenage boys who leave 'the truth'.

  i can't ever remember this much space in a km being devoted to converting men.. para 2 states: "when a family head accepts the truth, he often influences others in the family to join him in pure worship".

  Also, if we go by the Jewish calendar which the Lord's Evening Meal is based on, which has 13 months some years and 12 in others, then where does that take us? (I'm assuming a 607 BCE start date, and no zero year.)

  many here have abandoned the bible as "the word of god" and there are numerous reasons for said abandonment.

  however what i am interested in finding out is if the bible is the word of god, then what would you expect to find?.
